Sweet Potato Balls

I saw this recipe on Pinterest and thought it looked interesting, so I decided to try it one evening. I would serve these with a Chinese dinner or as a dessert as they  taste like a sweet doughnut. I could not stop at 1 or even 2.....
 they are very addictive! Yummy!!

 Ingredients:
1 lb sweet potatoes
1/2 cup rice flour
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
Vegetable oil for frying

Directions:
Peel and cut potatoes place in a pot, cover with water.
Cook till tender.
Mash and add ingredients.
Pinch a little dough roll between palms to form a  1 inch diameter ball. Dough should be soft not sticky, add more rice flour if needed.
Fill a medium size sauce pan with 1 to 2 inches of oil.
Heat to medium high.
I used a deep fryer, when sweet potatoes rise and are golden they are done.
Happy Cooking!

Getting Crafty

If you have ever planned a wedding then you know how many little details there are to take care of and how costly it can become. Our daughter wanted their reception in our back yard so that meant getting to work sproosing up the gardens.

We went on the hunt for all kinds of glass jugs and bottles  to paint and decorate to use for center pieces and decorations.

We displayed wedding pictures of parents and grandparents from both sides of the family's

Instead of the traditional photo booth we strung pictures of both the bride and groom starting with baby pictures on up and through their courtship. Keeping with the picture theme we provided two Polaroid cameras for guests to take pictures, they were a big hit!

We decorated with chock board signs

Wine bottles wrapped in jute lined the isles at the ceremony.

Everyone in the family worked hard to get things done.... even our son in-law to be. He really did an awesome job he built two pergolas one so "we" ya lol..... so he could string lights from the deck on the house to it. Which he also did.

My son in-law also made this beautiful light to hang in the other pergola. We had this wagon wheel  light fixture hanging around for quite some time, just waiting to be transformed for a special occasion.

Signs were cut down from pallets, painted and decorated.

Beverage dispensers with chalk board labels, mauve and sea foam green drinking jars.

There was something for everyone to do. The grooms dad made a life size Jenga game.

For the little ones to keep them busy we provided coloring books, bubbles and chalk to draw on the cement.

Thanks for letting me share our family's special day with you.

Wedding Memories

Like I promised here is a small collection
of pictures from our daughters wedding this past July.
This is one of my precious little nieces.
Those of you who have planned a wedding know how many little details
go into this event and.... how expensive they can be, so being the crafty
family that we are we made all our own decorations and center pieces.

This is our eldest daughter.

This was my first time making a maid of honor & bridal bouquet.
Bought flowers from a couple of our grocery stores the ladies at the one
department even gave me a quick tutorial which really helped.
I think they turned out beautiful if I do say so my self.

Special moment between father & daughter
